Frequently asked questions

What kinds of clients do you work with?

I work with individuals aged 14 and up, including adults and couples. Many of my clients are navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, life transitions, or relationship concerns. I specialize in working with complex trauma and offer support tailored to your unique story and needs.

What types of therapy do you offer?

I offer a trauma-informed, integrative approach that includes:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma and anxiety

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems/Parts Work) for self-understanding and healing

  • Grief counseling for those navigating loss

  • Mind-body and holistic strategies, especially for clients coping with chronic stress or emotional overwhelm

What is EMDR therapy?

EMDR helps people heal from distressing memories and trauma by using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping). It’s especially helpful when talk therapy hasn’t been enough.

What is IFS therapy?

IFS (Internal Family Systems) is a therapy model that helps you explore the different “parts” of yourself—like the inner critic, the avoider, the caretaker, or the wounded child. These parts often carry burdens from past experiences, and IFS provides a compassionate framework for healing them by reconnecting with your core Self.

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?

Both! I offer in-person sessions at my office in Knoxville, TN, as well as virtual sessions for clients anywhere in Tennessee. You’re welcome to choose what feels best and safest for you.

What are your rates?

My standard rate is $125 per 50-minute session. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for those who may need financial flexibility. If your financial circumstances change, just let me know—we’ll work together to keep therapy accessible.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. I’m currently in-network with:

  • Optum

  • Cigna

  • Aetna

I’m in the process of becoming in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, and I expect to be paneled by August 2025. If you’re uninsured or out-of-network, I can provide a superbill for reimbursement.

What if I don’t have insurance?

I believe mental health support should be accessible. In addition to sliding scale options, I maintain a resource list for uninsured individuals and those facing financial hardship, including local clinics and community programs.

How do I get started?

You can contact me here or fill out the inquiry form to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. We’ll talk about what you’re looking for and see if it feels like a good fit.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes—your privacy and trust are very important to me. I follow HIPAA guidelines and everything we discuss is kept confidential, with a few legally required exceptions (such as imminent risk of harm or mandated reporting).

What if I’ve had a bad experience with therapy in the past?

That’s okay—and unfortunately, it’s not uncommon. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and in control of your process. We go at your pace, and I welcome your feedback at any point in our work together.
